Hagstone

Hagstone

Hagstone specialises in weaving narratives around our shared experiences of queerness, disability, exploring nature, engaging with our communities and discovering local folklore.

Tell us about yourself!

Hagstone started when we (Alice and Beau) became partners. Separately, we both loved to illustrate and create, but starting up an illustration business seemed really intimidating to do alone! We opened Hagstone in 2023 and started doing a lot of in-person markets as well as starting a store on Etsy! Being able to work side by side together has been such a joy, and we both feel really lucky that so many people enjoy the work we make!

Describe your style in 3 words

Queer, Folklore, Nature!

Where do you work?

Our homes double as living and workspaces! We love to work curled up on the sofa, surrounded by blankets and cats. We often try to get out to different cafes around Norwich and work side by side with our other creative friends!

What do you get up to when you aren’t illustrating?

We both care greatly about getting out into nature and being part of our local community. We try to visit as many museums, exhibitions, talks, and markets as possible! While these activities are fun to do in our downtime, they also influence our artist practices. Together, we are avid textile enthusiasts, doing everything from knitting to embroidery, quilting, and cross-stitching.

Most frequently played tune in the studio?

Our music taste is so broad! Anything from English folk, Appalachian country, and medieval bops right through to pop, pc music, and sad girl indie.

Here is our pre-emptive wedding playlist!
